There are many options for seniors to keep active, social, and healthy at our retirement community. As a nonprofit, faith-based community, we view wellness in three main components: spiritual, physical and social. It’s our goal to ensure the highest level of senior health and wellness among all residents.
We provide a comprehensive approach to senior health and wellness that’s inclusive for all of our residents. Find out more about how senior health and wellness is at the core of what we do by calling 325.313.7931 or completing our online contact form today.
What Should You Expect When You're a Resident at Baptist Retirement Community?
Residents of Baptist Retirement Community can enjoy vibrant, independent, and active lifestyles suited to their abilities and interests. Everyone in our community is able to move continuously as they maximize their experiences each day through programs, outings, and events.Â
When you’re a part of the Baptist Retirement Community, you can enjoy a wide array of lifestyles. For instance, some of our residents enjoy meeting people with similar likes, dislikes, and experiences. Alternatively, other residents prefer staying in their comfortable apartments, where they can nap, read, or surf the Internet in peace and quiet. In addition, in order to help our residents remain active and healthy, we provide various community wellness programs, which are available to residents of all abilities.Â
One of the primary benefits of our retirement community is that residents and staff are considered friends and family. They can do life alongside each other, creating a close-knit community of neighbors and friends every day.Â
What Is Holistic Senior Living?
At Baptist Retirement Community, our team believes that a holistic approach to senior health and wellness is best when caring for our residents. However, what is holistic senior living?Â
Holistic senior living addresses the needs of each resident’s mind, body, and spirit. By employing this comprehensive strategy, our team ensures that our residents have optimal senior health and wellness while they enjoy each day at Baptist Retirement Community.
Spiritual
Baptist Retirement is honored to have a full-time chaplain on staff who provides weekly Bible studies, counseling and support for residents across each care level. Residents do not have to be Baptist to live at Baptist Retirement Community.
These optional services encourage Baptist Retirement residents to grow in their faith alongside friends and neighbors. Serving the kingdom of God with Christ-like attitudes is what sets this community apart.
We find that spirituality helps give purpose to our seniors, and we encourage our residents to participate in programs that benefit the greater San Angelo community. When people focus on the needs of others, they enhance their selflessness and willingness to help those less fortunate, which is a fundamental part of spirituality.
Physical Wellness
The on-site wellness center encourages Baptist Retirement residents to get out and stay active. Physical wellness is an essential aspect of overall health for our residents. Therefore, we provide a wide range of programs to provide exercise options for any fitness level.Â
Physical wellness not only helps our seniors avoid slips and falls, but it also enhances their mental health as well. In addition, our physical wellness programs provide opportunities for our residents to meet and bond with others with similar interests.
Social
One of the Buckner Core Principles is connection, meaning that being part of our active community is vital to our residents’ social wellness.
There’s always something going on here at Baptist Retirement! Whether it’s our monthly potluck at Main Street Cafe, the annual fish fry or countless groups who meet regularly on campus, residents at Baptist Retirement are encouraged to get out, meet their neighbors and cultivate lasting relationships.
